We thought it would go a little further, but no – Mojang has decided that you can play Minecraft 1.19 right now. As long as you don’t mind digging into the very experimental beta, ie. The first test snapshot for 1.19 is now available for Minecraft Players: Java Edition and it will let you dive into the Deep Darkness and meet the Guardian.
You can find details on how to install snapshots on the official website, but keep in mind that you won’t be able to open the old world here. You’ll have to create a new one, and it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to port any worlds played on the test snapshot to future versions of the game.
This snapshot doesn’t include every feature planned for 1.19, also known as the Wild update, but it does include the Deep Shadow biome, Ancient City biome, Warden mobs, sculpture blocks, Fast enchantment and shadow mob effect.
However, as you start playing with new features, keep in mind that this is still just a ‘experimental’ snapshot. That means developers are still testing how all of these systems will work, so any specific features are subject to major tweaks in the future.
